So, I started to get more organized on my graphic novel Tree Life.
Making a graphic novel from scratch has seriously been almost a lifelong dream of mine. Years ago, I started making notes, printing reference material and making doodles. To then look back at how I let my dream slip between the crack and to now I can honestly say I am ready.
First things first, how or where do I even start. I remember the process is quite vast from when I researched this before. YouTube wasn’t really a thing when I was a kid. I had a library card attached with lots of fees because I was known to grab lots of books that looked cool and then forget them in my room for ages. A library was my own resource to figuring this out. I believe the internet was only helpful with pictures for reference material. There was a cool site when I was in High School that I ran upon and it helped me a lot. https://comicbookgraphicdesign.com/remind-the-making-of-a-graphic-novel/. I mean this guy inspired me and did an amazing job creating his graphic novel. I followed him from the beginning. Goals for sure!
So, back to the process. I have some YouTube videos to direct me with writing a script for my graphic novel. I watched 2 videos so far and that will suffice. The step I am working on now is the Plot Outline. I managed to also work some more on this website. It will be hosting most of my creations. Learning how to make a website great is taking more time and harder than I expected but every time I login and do something I advance my learning just a little bit. I keep telling myself this is in all good times. I can be honest though, it can be very frustrating spinning your wheels trying to do something that you aren’t sure of how to do it yet. I’ll finish this process of the outline and post some of the work soon. My two-week vacation is almost over. I have managed a lot though and no complaints. OH! I have managed to figure out some of procreate too. I threw together a quit concept cover for Tree Life…It is temporary but I wanted to show something for it. Learning so much lately. I’ve never had the software or hardware to do anything digital. I have always relied on the good ol’ ink and paper. Learning procreate should be a blog by itself. I am very happy that I bought an iPad pro with a pencil. It has changed the way I work, think and multitask bringing so much value into my life. I would be lost without it. Well with that said this blog must end and I must get back to studying. Thanks for reading!
